Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker player on the planet by most of the top-ranked pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before his first birthday. His grandpa showed him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wished to discover every little thing he could about the game. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t let the adverse feedback from others annihilate his goal of becoming one of the best poker players in the world.

He began competing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial few years for Phil were a learning period and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he made 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his success to discipline and an undying passion for the game of poker. Phil says that he’s picking up skills every day and is very abashed about his achievements. He admits to making mistakes in each game of poker and always strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big tournaments, he likes winning money games on a regular basis.
