Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker competitor on the planet by most of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching turning 1. His grandpa showed him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to pickup whatever he could about the game. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not let the negative feedback from others destroy his ambition of becoming one of the best poker competitors on the planet.

He began competing seriously after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a learning period and coming away with a win was not a normal thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he destroyed quite a few of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and an undying passion for poker. He says that he is learning every day and is quite abashed about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making blunders every single session of poker and always strives to get better.

Even though Phil has come first in some large tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a regular basis.
