Saturday, 23. September 2023

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker contender on the globe by most of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching turning 1. His grandfather showed him to penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup everything he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not let the adverse comments from others annihilate his dream of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.

He started playing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his techniques at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first few years for him were a teaching period and winning wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he destroyed many of the better known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal love for poker. Phil states that he is learning every day and is very abashed about his success. He knows he makes mistakes every single session of poker and always aspires to improve.

Although Phil has won some big tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a normal basis.
