Wednesday, 7. March 2018
Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker contender on the globe by many of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching turning 1. His grandpa taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wished to pickup whatever he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not let the adverse feedback from other people kill his goal of becoming one of the best poker competitors in the world.
Phil started playing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a learning opportunity and winning wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved two final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he defeated a number of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal passion for poker. Phil says that he is learning every single day and is quite abashed about his success. He admits to making blunders in each session of poker and always strives to get better.
Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a regular basis.
