Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker contender on the globe by many of the top pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching turning one. His papa introduced him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup everything he possibly could about the game. He routinely would tell his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the negative feedback from other people kill his dream of becoming one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

Phil began competing seriously after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his skills at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a learning period and winning wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he destroyed quite a few of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his success to hard work and an undying passion for the game of poker. He says that he’s picking up skills every single day and is very humble about his success. He admits to making errors in each session of poker and always aspires to get better.

Even though Phil has won some big tournaments, he prefers destroying money games on a normal basis.
