Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker contender on the globe by many of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His grandpa showed him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to discover whatever he possibly could about poker. He routinely told his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the adverse comments from other people kill his dream of becoming one of the strongest poker players in the world.

Phil started competing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his skills at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a teaching experience and winning wasn’t a common thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed many of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his success to discipline and an eternal passion for poker. He says that he is picking up skills every single day and is very humble about his success. He knows he makes blunders in each game of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Although Ivey has won some big tournaments, he likes winning money games on a regular basis.
