Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker competitor on the planet by most of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching turning one. His grandfather introduced him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wished to learn every little thing he could about the game. He routinely would tell his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not allow the negative feedback from other people destroy his goal of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.

Phil started playing seriously after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial few years for Phil were a teaching experience and winning wasn’t a common thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved 2 final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he destroyed many of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and an immeasurable love for poker. Phil states that he’s learning every single day and is very humble about his accomplishments. He admits to making mistakes in each game of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Although Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he favors destroying cash games on a normal basis.
