NL Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Wednesday, 15. February 2023
Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker player on the planet by most of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching turning 1. His grandfather taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wished to discover every little thing he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He did not let the negative feedback from other people destroy his goal of becoming one of the best poker players on the planet.
He started competing intently after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a teaching period and coming away with a win was not a normal outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made 2 final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he defeated many of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and a continuing passion for the game of poker. He states that he’s picking up skills every single day and is quite humble about his success. Phil admits to making errors every single session of poker and constantly aspires to improve.
Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some large tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a regular basis.
