Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker competitor on the planet by most of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His papa introduced him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to discover everything he could about the game. Phil routinely would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the negative feedback from other people destroy his dream of being one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.

He began competing intently after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and winning was not a regular outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he destroyed quite a few of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Ivey credits his success to discipline and a continuing passion for the game of poker. He states that he’s learning every single day and is incredibly abashed about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making mistakes every single game of poker and always aspires to improve.

Although Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a regular basis.
