No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker competitor on the globe by most of the top-ranked professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His grandfather taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to pickup whatever he could about the game. He routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the negative feedback from others annihilate his goal of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.

He started competing seriously after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a teaching period and winning wasn’t a common outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved 2 final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he defeated quite a few of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his success to hard work and a continuing love for poker. He states that he is learning every day and is quite abashed about his achievements. He admits to making mistakes every single session of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some large tournaments, he likes winning money games on a normal basis.
