Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker competitor on the planet by most of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His papa taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wished to pickup everything he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the detrimental comments from others annihilate his goal of becoming one of the best poker players on the planet.

He began playing intently after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his techniques at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first few years for him were a learning experience and coming away with a win was not a common thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made 2 final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he destroyed many of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and a continuing passion for the game of poker. He states that he’s learning every single day and is very humble about his success. Phil knows he makes mistakes every single game of poker and always strives to improve.

Although Ivey has come first in some large tournaments, he favors winning money games on a regular basis.
